Are you a AKB48 fan? If yes, AKB48 Sailor Zombie is the machine for you! AKB48 Sailor Zombie is a shooting game where you get to role play and pick an unzombified AKB48 member as a partner. On a dark street at late hours, you go on a mission with your partner to fight zombies, giant monsters and rescue the members of AKB48. Some of the zombies have an antidote which can turn a zombie back into a human. Earn the antidote by shooting the indicated zombie that have it.

Follow along with the song by scratching the turntable and pressing the keys as the bars reach the bottom of the screen. If you manage to successfully hit each note on-key perfectly, a combo meter will go up, increasing your score. Do well enough by the end of the song, and you can progress to the next level.

The gameplay is identical to that of Guitar Freaks and Beatmania. The screen scrolls in time to the music, and bars, separated into six columns, move from the top of the screen down to the bottom. When the bar reaches the line at the bottom of the screen, you hit the appropriate drum pad. Miss too many beats or drum off-time with the song, and your excite meter slowly drains. When it runs out, you lose.

The player follow along with the on-screen notes using the guitar controller's three buttons, and 'switch'. as the notes reach the top of the screen, hold down the corresponding button (red, green, or blue) and flick the switch on the body of the guitar, which simulates the guitar strings. Sometimes a guitar icon will come up the screen, and when it reaches the top, raising the guitar's neck vertically will give you a 'wailing bonus' Performing well enough will allow you to play an additional song.
